Does the office of Preacher exist? I received a question about Ephesians chapter four, verse eleven, touching this very topic. I really enjoyed producing this episode. This is purely an academic pursuit and has no bearing on your salvation whatsoever. That being said, I still believe it is interesting to think about. Let me know what you think.

That is true. That’s not how I meant that, but it is true they way you said it. Also, it’s a whole-nother podcast episode. In a congregation of 300, 299 fulfill their obligations to the great commission, amongst other things, through the medium of one man.

The fact that in most congregations there is a ”man that you depend on week after week to deliver a gospel sermon” is one of the biggest reasons the church is so weak today, in my judgment. Most of the time what that means is that we’ve delegated the job of studying the scriptures and being able to teach them to one man, when it’s something we all should be able to do. I don’t believe God ever intended for there to be just one ”preacher” per congregation.
