Thank you, this gets to the heart of what I was suggesting. We need to properly understand the purpose for our gathering (and in particular here, the purpose of sermons), and examine whether our practices are effective at accomplishing those purposes - obviously while remaining within the parameters for worship that God has provided. When the saints assemble on Sunday, in addition to the primary purpose of magnifying God, it is designed to edify, exhort, and uplift those saints who gather.
